Guillermo Habacuc Vargas is a mindless monster

Mon Oct 29, 2007, 11:57 AM
Guillermo Habacuc Vargas, a pseudo artist based in Costa Rica, payed two children to catch a homeless dog which he later chained in a gallery. He made the dog suffer and starve to death in the gallery, in front of the viewers. Guillermo Habacuc Vargas says the dog was ill and would die anyway. He refused requests to give food or water to the animal and didn't let the viewers feed the dog. Some people tried to convince him to free the dog but he rejected all the requests, claiming death of this animal is his 'work of art'.

In that event, (in which the dog died) he was chosen to represent his country in the Central-American Biennial of Honduras 2008.

This just isn't right.

I call for everyone to boycott Guillermo Habacuc Vargas and his actions.
Please don't let him be part of the Art society.

******************

One of the "artists", Guillermo Habacuc Vargas ([link]) allowed the death of a dog by starvation during the event.

He is inadmissible that pisoteen of this form the rights of the animals and that the "artist" had gathered it of the street to let it die moored with a cord to the wall of the gallery when she had the opportunity of not making it or even save it.

Of the Blog de Rodrigo Peñalba

"According to I knew the dog died on the following day by lack of food. During the inauguration I knew that the dog was persecuted in the evening between the houses of aluminum and cardboard of a district of Managua with santo name who Habacuc that could not need at the moment. 5 children of whom they helped in the capture received 10 bonds of córdobas by their collaboration. During the exhibition some people requested the freedom of the small dog, to which he artist refused himself. The name of the dog was (it was) Natividad, and I let myself to him die of at sight hunger of all, as if the death of a poor dog was a shameless mediatic show in which nobody does nothing else that to applaud or to watch disturbed."

Nothing we can do by this dog but if to treat of which the organizers of the Central American Biennial Honduras 2008 do not admit this "maltratador artist" of animals. I request to you you adhere to this request and that you spread more than it is to you possible shameful east act to gather the maximum of companies and to veto it in the biennial.

Sincerely,

The Undersigned

I agree. The saddest thing is it's propably impossible to forbid this kind of actions. According to what I read on the internet all we can do is sign the petition and try to exclude Guillermo Habacuc Vargas from the art society to which he claims he belongs.
:icondead-mime:
Let's hope he won't be doing any more of such horrible things - or at least won't be showing anything during the Biennial of Honduras 2008.

:fingerscrossed:
:icongirija:
that's horrible. I cannot believe that kind of actions.
